From the airport to Lausanne

From any Swiss airport, you can easily arrive in Lausanne by train.
From the Geneva airport, there are several direct trains for Lausanne every hour. The fastest one takes about 40' minutes between the airport and Lausanne railway station. Other trains take 50 minutes for the journey.
Zurich Airport also offers direct trains to Lausanne every hour, which take app. 2.5 hours. Some trains require changing train at Zurich HB (main station), at Biel or at Olten.


If you are going to EPFL, you may take the train to Renens (VD) and from there the Metro M1 (TSOL) to EPFL (5 minutes). Alternatively, you may take the train to Morges (VD) and from there the bus numer 1 to EPFL (15 minutes).

From the Lausanne Main Station to EPFL

The city metro (M1 and M2) takes you to EPFL in about 30'. You reach the "M1" stop by exiting the station "city side" (as opposite to lake side) and crossing the place, or by the east side underground passage. Buy an 1 hour ticket for the whole trip (zones 11 + 12) or use the "Lausanne Transport Card" provided by your hotel. At the very next station (Flon) change for the M2. Get off the M2 at the stop called EPFL. The whole journey lasts about 30'.

Coming by car to EPFL

From Geneva, approx. 10 kms before Lausanne, you will have the choice between two directions. Take "LAUSANNE SUD". Then leave the highway at the "Unil - EPFL" exit. You are on the "Route du Lac". There are two ways in for EPFL. Take the second, which is located just before a traffic light, then follow the blue parking icons. Avoid parking on the green places, they are reserved for students and employees. Look on the map for the "P" sign in a square to find the visitor's places.
From Bern, you have to take the direction "Geneva" until you find the sign indicating "LAUSANNE SUD". Then proceed as above.
